My blogging experience

Hi everyone! Today I am going to write about my blogging experience. You know what? At the beginning I was so confused because I did not know how a blog worked. But now all the confusion is in the past, because, in spite of the fact that now I am not an expert on it, I can do many things like upload photos and videos, play games and things like that. I think that this experience has been excellent for me, because I have learnt a lot from my own mistakes when my classmates gave me feedback from my posts.

I think that the blog has been a social skill this semester. It has helped me in order to know a bit more of the persons that I spend my time in the university. At the beginning of this semester, I did not know most of classmates. Then of having visited their blogs during this semester, I can say that I know more about their interests and points of view. Also they could know a bit more of me. The Blog has been the opportunity to know my classmates.

On the other hand, I think that the blog, is an interesting way to learn, because in it we have written things that really involve us, like things about our life and education topics. In that way we have felt motivated to write because as we read in the littlejohn’s article; student learn more when they feel motivated in the learning process. In this case, I have felt motivated because there is a link between my tasks in the university and my life; in this process my background has been taken into account.

To end, I would like to highlight that the blog has been a brilliant idea to improve my writing skills. I know that there are a lot of mistakes in my posts, but I also know that make mistakes and learn from it is the only way to do the things well in the future.

Motivation Essay

Hy everyone! You know what? I have to do an essay for my Language lesson at the university. It is going to try about something that is really important in education "motivation".

Motivation for me is not to give a star to children or a good mark to teenagers. It has to do with other things. Really, I disagree with extrinsic motivation. This semester for my “taller de experiencia laboral” lesson I have been reading a lot of interesting chapters about topics like that and others related to it. After reading that, I have concluded that extrinsic motivation is not a “real” motivation because, it is something that make to students act but it does not mean that are acting because they are motivated. For example, when the “motivation” is a mark, the students are able to do everything to get a good mark, as copy to a classmate and that is not good, because they are not learning.

I think the clue about this important topic in education is to find the way to motivate the class, but when I say motivate I talking about find the way to students get interested about the topics that they are going to learn. For example, in the case of Language lesson it is really interesting to us- students of English, it is really interesting to talk what we did on vacation in the language that we are learning- English because, in that way we feel motivated and it happens because we are linking our lifes- a topic that is important to us with what we are learning. In that sense, I think that we- Future English Teachers have many ways to motivate our future students, but not in a extrinsic way, I mean that we have the possibility of motivating them in a real way, that means that they want to learn, and that must be the most important thing, not get good marks.

To end, I would like to mention that I expect to include as many things related to it as I can and also examples. I think that it is a very good topic to discus and above all to us- Future teachers.

Dreams

Dreams? Really I don’t remember what is to dream. hahaha. Since the classes started I do not have time to sleep, I can sleep only few hours at night. I think that my brain does not allow me dream, because maybe I would get more tired than I am. Hahaha.
On the other hand, I think that dreams are the reflection of our wishes and when we dream we can satisfy them.

What am I going to be doing in the 2012??

Many people say that the world is going to end in the 2012. Really I prefer be more optimistic and think about what I am going to be doing by that time. If all worked well maybe by that time I'll be a professional who is going to be working to save money to make true one of my dreams "live abroad". By that time I would like to be working in something related to my career, maybe as a teacher at school or I don’t know, if I had a good level of English I could work in a university or so on. That would be wonderful. But I really would prefer have been in a country which speaks English in order to have an excellent level of English. Because I think that it is to “English teachers” to have been at least six month abroad practicing your English all the day with native speakers.

Paranormal Events

Really, this is a very interesting topic. In my case I have experienced paranormal events many times in my life. In my house always happen rare things and that really scared me. For example, this year, in may I think I had to stay alone at home because my parents had to travell. That night I sleept in my parent's room, because my room is in the second floor and I don't like to be there when there is nobody else at home. The thing is that night I had to go to my room to get somenthing and it was very scary to realize that there were many things in the center of my room. The strange thing is that I had not let them there! How could have happened that if I were alone at home? That night I also listen to strange sounds in the kitchen. I was trembling with fear...

This weekend I'll be alone at home. Do someone want to be with me?? hahaha

Are schools killing creativity?

Today I watched a really interesting video at the university. In that video we can see a creativity expert talking about the lack of creativity at schools. This topic is something that involves all of us- students of pedagogy, because that's the painful reality that children and teenagers live at schools. There, they are being educated to be excellent workers in the future instead of being creative persons in their life.

I think that in the video we can see reflected what is going on at school. Nowadays, Schools are not making think to the students, at school children are only doing what their teachers say they have to do which is horrible. Our society is not going to be different if at school- where children and teenagers are most of their time their teachers do not let to student be creative and have critical thinking.

I strongly agree with Ken Robinson. I think that schools are killing creativity. I think that the Education system emphasize in the theoretical subjects as literature, math, biology and so on and doesn’t give the importance that creativity subjects have as music, arts, etc. That situation is something that is being like that in most of the countries, and our country is not the exception.

When I was at school, the situation was not different. I was in a “cientifico humanista” school and it was focused in that their students get good marks in the SIMCE and PSU. So the teachers there never take care about creativity aspect that students have to develop.
